The ‘Villa Mariana’ will once again have a basecamp in this new edition
This is the third basecamp unveiled after those in Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Artenara
Registrations are still open at www.360thechallenge.com
For the fourth consecutive year, Teror will host one of the basecamps at the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria. The town consolidates its relevance in trail running after the announcement a few months ago that it will host the start of the Advanced race and the start and finish of the Youth and Family races of The North Face Transgrancanaria 2025. This is confirmed by the Councilor for Sports of the Teror City Council, Moisés Rodríguez, “Teror and mountain races are two concepts that are linked”.
The 2024 event will be the ninth edition of one of the most extreme self-sufficiency trail races in the world, which this year will have 258 kilometers and 12,669 meters of positive elevation. The more than 100 registered runners from 14 different countries are eagerly awaiting the 13th of November, the day that an epic adventure will start in Tejeda through several of the most beautiful places of Gran Canaria.
The 360º Challenge Gran Canaria will once again have Teror as one of the basecamps for the race. The Municipal Arena of Teror will be a strategic point where participants can have food and drink, charge their devices and rest to face an unmarked route that the race organisers will reveal a few days before the start.
The Councillor for Sports of the Teror Town Hall, Moisés Rodríguez, expresses the satisfaction of the municipality for being a vital part of a race of such calibre, “we are very proud that Teror is a basecamp”. “The municipality will be filled with people waiting for the runners”, adds the councillor.
In addition to being a strategic point for the race, Teror also has a prominent presence year after year in terms of participants, “12% of the runners last year were from Teror, and one of them told me that he got up at five in the morning to run 50 kilometres”. “The effort that these people make is priceless and I encourage everyone who can to see these runners and cheer them on when they see them pass by because the effort they make is brutal”, concludes Rodríguez.
To finish, the councillor is pleased because “in Teror we have many runners and clubs that organise very important running and hiking activities”, and he also takes the opportunity to “thank Arista Eventos for the effort it makes for the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria”. “Teror will continue to support this type of event”, he emphasises.
Teror, together with Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Artenara, is one of the three life bases revealed to date. The organization will confirm more details of the event in the coming weeks, which is still open for registration at www.360thechallenge.com
