The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria will be broadcast live for the first time in its history

Arista Eventos will host a special program on Friday that will coincide with the final kilometres of the head of the race

For the first time in its history, the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria will have a streaming broadcast for the ninth edition that starts this Wednesday in Tejeda. Arista Eventos, the company organizing the event, will carry out a special program with an approximate duration of four hours that will take place on Friday, November 15, coinciding with the last kilometers of the head of the race. The broadcast can be followed through the Arista Eventos (https://youtube.com/AristaTV) and The North Face Transgrancanaria (https://www.youtube.com/@transgrancanaria102) channels on YouTube.

 

The broadcast will be hosted by the journalist and director of The North Face Transgrancanaria, Carlos Torrent. Along with him, a human group of 20 people including cameras, runners, drone operator, wireless and technical equipment, among others. During the broadcast, you can follow the final kilometres of the head of the race and the rest of the participants, with images of the runners passing through the life bases of Teror and Artenara, as well as through different points of interest of the demanding route.

 

This Wednesday, November 13, Tejeda will host the start of the 360º The Challenge from 09:00AM. The development of the race during the first two days will mark the start of the streaming broadcast, which will be on Friday 15. The exact time of the start of this special program will be announced in the next few days through the official channels of the race.

 

The best ultra-distance athletes meet in Gran Canaria

The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria is one of the sporting events of the year, one of the wildest challenges of trail running at an international level that this week will bring together the best ultra-distance athletes in the world on the Island. Some of the names that stand out are Claudiu Beletoiu (Romania) and Claire Bannwarth (France) – current winners of the race; Luca Papi (Italy) – eight-time finisher and winner in 2022; the Frenchman Julien Chorier; the Italian Marco Gubert; or the Spaniards Javier Blanco, Sandra Moreno and José Bordón. Together with them, a total of 100 participants are prepared for the great challenge.

 

5 life bases; 3 external assistance points and a refreshment stand

The route for this edition has 258 kilometres and 12,669 metres of positive elevation. In addition, as new features for 2024, the organisation has established a total of five basecamps, which will be located in the towns of Mogán, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Teror and Artenara. These basecamps are key points where participants can eat, sleep or recharge their electronic devices. Managing rest and nutrition are some of the key elements in the strategy of a race of this magnitude.
