The emblematic self-sufficiency mountain race will take place from November 5 to 9 with Tejeda as the epicenter of the event
This special edition will have five basecamps and already has 120 runners from 23 countries
The tenth edition of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria, scheduled from November 5 to 9, will cover a course of 264 kilometers with 12,786 meters of positive elevation gain, starting and finishing in Tejeda. This commemorative edition, marking the tenth anniversary of the event, upholds the philosophy of extreme toughness that defines one of the most demanding self-sufficiency races in the world. Participants will have 101 hours to complete the challenging route.
Tejeda, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, will once again become the heart of this extreme trail running challenge, bringing together elite athletes from the international self-sufficiency racing scene.
Five basecamps along the route
For 2025, the competition will feature only five basecamps, requiring participants to meticulously plan their race strategy. This raises both logistical and strategic challenges, demanding athletes to optimize resource management and recovery periods. Last year, the ninth edition proved the event’s extreme difficulty when only 71% of participants managed to finish (67 out of 95 runners completed the 258 kilometers and 12,669 meters of positive elevation gain of the previous course).
A defining feature of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria is the absence of course marking and the secrecy surrounding the route, which is only revealed ten days before the start. Moreover, aspiring participants must demonstrate prior completion of an Ultra-Trail event, possess orientation skills using compass and map, master GPS navigation, and have proven experience in long-distance mountain expeditions.
So far, 120 runners from 23 nationalities have confirmed their participation. Among the world-class athletes already registered are France’s Claire Bannwarth, five-time consecutive champion of the 360º; Sébastien Raichon, double winner of the Tor des Glaciers; Switzerland’s Anitah Lehmann, with an impressive record in extreme events; Katharina Hartmuth, third at UTMB 2025 and winner of the Tor des Géants; the legendary Luca Papi, finisher of every edition and three-time winner (2019, 2020, and 2022); and Canary Islands runner José Bordón, runner-up in 2023.
Tenth edition of the event
According to Wendy Cruz, director of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria: “In this commemorative edition, we have chosen to raise the level of demand, while preserving the founding spirit of the race, which focuses on orientation skills, resilience to changing environments, and the management of exhaustion and sleep deprivation.” Cruz adds: “Celebrating ten years of this experience is immensely gratifying, and we hope this special edition will remain in the memory of both the participants and the community that has supported the 360º project over the past decade.”
Registrations remain open on the official website: www.360thechallenge.com. Canary Islands residents will enjoy an additional 20% discount, while finishers of previous editions will receive a €30 discount per edition completed (up to a maximum of four).
