18 Mar, 2025

The self-sufficiency challenge will be held from November 5 to 9, 2025 with start and finish in Tejeda

Canarian residents and finishers of past editions have special discounts on the registration fee

The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria 2025 has already opened its registrations for the tenth edition to be held from November 5 to 9. Tejeda will host for the fourth consecutive year the start and finish of this self-sufficiency race, one of the toughest in the world, with more than 250 kilometers of unmarked route. The organization has again established special discounts for Canary Island residents and finishers of past editions, as well as the option of payment in installments. Registration for this challenge is already available through the official website of the race: www.360thechallenge.com.

Gran Canaria will once again welcome the best ultra distance runners in the world, who will run self-sufficiently through a large part of the island’s municipalities. This epic adventure stands out for the demanding route and for not having the route marked out, which will not be known until 10 days before the start date. In addition to a good physical condition to compete in this type of race, it is necessary to have a high level of knowledge in the use of cartography and GPS, an optimal management of sleep and nutrition, and a good ability to withstand sudden changes in the weather.

The last edition had a distance of 258 kilometers and 12,669 meters of positive gain. Despite the toughness of the race, 71% of the participants managed to finish it, with only 28 withdrawals. The race organizers will be revealing in the coming months the location of the life bases, fundamental for the race strategy, where runners will be able to eat, drink, rest or charge their devices.

Some of the names of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria are the French Claire Bannwarth, queen of the race with five wins in five editions; the Italian Luca Papi, the only finisher of the nine editions (and winner on four occasions); the Italians Annemarie Gross (2017 and 2018) and Marta Poretti (2020); the also transalpine Marco Gubert, triple champion and winner in 2024; or the Romanian Claudiu Beletoiu, who was the fastest in 2023. Other names from the Islands also stand out, such as Sandra Moreno from Gran Canaria, second in 2024 and third in 2022; and José Bordón, also from Gran Canaria, runner-up in 2023; and Álvaro Santana, third in the last edition held.
