The tenth edition of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria arrives from November 5th to 9th with a record number of female participants. To date, and with registration still open, the self-sufficiency challenge has a total of 11 women registered, the highest figure recorded in all editions of the event.

The municipality of Tejeda will once again host one of the most demanding ultra-distance races in the world. In this edition, the course will cover 264 kilometers with 12,786 meters of positive elevation gain. It is an unmarked route where the more than 100 participants will only have the aid of maps and navigation.

Furthermore, the event will feature a truly stellar lineup of female athletes. French athlete Claire Bannwarth, the absolute dominator of the 360º The Challenge, returns to Gran Canaria seeking her sixth consecutive victory. Alongside her will be Germany’s Katharina Hartmuth, who recently finished third at UTMB and won the Tor des Géants.

Other prominent names in ultra-distance running will also participate, such as Swiss runner Anita Lehmann, runner-up in the 2021 (La Gomera) and 2022 editions; Italy’s Marina Plavan, third in the 2021 edition in La Gomera and second that same year in the edition that started in Tenerife and finished in Gran Canaria; and Peruvian athlete Martha Ccorahua Huallpa, current winner of the Backyard Ultra ‘El último león’ in Melilla and past winner of the 101K Peregrinos (2023) and the 100K Canfranc (2017).

Joining these names are Moroccan runner Kaoutar Bendoumou, third-place finisher at the Trail Amizmiz (Morocco) in 2023, and Canarian athlete Guacimara Suárez, third in the 50K at the Brama Stage Run 2024, top 40 in The North Face Transgrancanaria’s Advanced race, top 50 in the Marathon des Sables (Morocco), and top 20 in the Riaño Trail Run. Also noteworthy is the registration of Swiss athlete Stephanie Straub, third-place finisher in the 2023 Swiss Irontrail.

The list of female participants is completed, to date, by Romanian Roxana Gabriela Dirvareanu and Spanish runners Nira Rosa Castro and Montserrat Caso.
