Marco Gubert will pursue his third win in the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria

The Italian was already champion in both editions of 2021

Marco Gubert will be another big name to watch in the ninth edition of The 360º Challenge Gran Canaria. The Italian trail runner has already been proclaimed the winner of the two editions of the race that were held in 2021, and he wants his third crown in 2024.

From November 13 to 17, several of the best self-sufficiency runners in the world will be on the starting line in Tejeda. One of them will be Marco Gubert, three-time finisher and two-time winner of the race. His list of triumphs includes Trail Degil Eroi (2019); Tjörnarparen – Trail Ultra (2020) or Trail La Corsa Della Bora (2021). He also finished in first place in the brand new of Cursa di Ciclopi in 2023; The Italian athlete completed the 511-kilometre endurance race in Sicily in 86 hours, 28 minutes and 18 seconds.

This year, the Italian runner won the second edition of the Garda Trentino Trail, stopping the clock with a time of 23 hours, 16 minutes and 6 seconds the race along Lake Garda.

Gubert talks about the island’s beauty and the reasons why he is returning to compete in the race: “I love Gran Canaria because it has a combination of freedom, nature and a perfect climate.” “The people are wonderful and make living together very easy,” adds the athlete.

But the sacrifice is worth it, “it’s a pleasure to prepare for this type of race, my training this autumn has been very good and I gave all my energy to arrive in my best shape for the race.”

To conclude, he talks about his chances of repeating his first place, “to achieve victory in a race like The 360º Challenge Gran Canaria you must not only be an elite runner but you also have to have optimal notions of navigation and self-sufficiency, but I firmly believe that this year I can fight for the win.” “I want to be the first to reach the finish line and eat the best paella on the island,” says the two-time champion.

With just a few weeks to go before the start of a new edition of 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria, the organization has already revealed the life bases of Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Artenara, as well as that it will have 258 kilometers and 12,669 meters of positive elevation.
