The Italian runner grabs his third victory in one of the toughest self-sufficiency races in the world

He led the race from the start with a frenetic pace alongside the French Julien Chorier

47 hours, 34 minutes and 33 seconds. That was the time it took the Italian Marco Gubert to complete the 258 kilometres with 12,669 metres of positive elevation of the ninth edition of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria.

The runner from Trento led the race from the start with a very high pace, except at the 130 kilometre mark, where the Frenchman Julien Chorier momentarily overtook him, although Gubert quickly retook the first position, which he did not leave until the final arrival in Tejeda.

After the victories achieved in the two editions of the 360º The Challenge held in La Gomera and Tenerife-Gran Canaria in 2021, this is the third victory for the The North Face runner in one of the toughest self-sufficiency races on the planet.

The second runner to cross the finish line is expected to be debutant Julien Chorier. The HOKA runner has had an extraordinary race, second only to the Italian champion, and is expected to arrive in the town centre of Tejeda shortly before midday.

In the women’s category, the French four-time champion, Claire Bannwarth, has a comfortable 12-hour lead over the local runner Sandra Moreno, who is now firmly in second place, which would be her best result in the Gran Canaria race.

The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria is a test organized by Arista Eventos, with the sponsorship of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute; the Government of the Canary Islands with Promotur – Canary Islands; Tejeda and Fred City Council. Olsen Express; and the collaboration of the companies Lorenzo González Automoción, Gofio La Piña, Inerza, Emicela and Provital.
