The Gran Canaria runner achieved a remarkable second place in his first participation in the race in 2023
The adventure will take place from November 5 to 9 and already has more than 110 registered participants
José Bordón will once again face the challenge of the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria this coming November. This will be the third time the ultrarunner from the Kabrankeros team competes in the event, after claiming the runner-up spot in 2023 and finishing in the top 5 in 2024. Considered one of the most extreme races in the world, the event already boasts over 110 registered participants for its 10th edition, set to take place from November 5 to 9, with Tejeda as its central hub.
The Gran Canaria athlete is undoubtedly one of the standout names of this edition. In 2023, in his first appearance at the 360º The Challenge, he made his mark in the race’s history by securing second place with a time of 61 hours and 3 minutes. Bordón showed extraordinary strength over the 269-kilometer course, finishing behind only Romanian runner Claudiu Beletoiu, who won in 56 hours and 23 minutes. From that moment, the 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria captured the heart of the runner from the south of the island, prompting his return the following year.
In 2024, Bordón tackled the new 258-kilometer route, staying in the top positions throughout the race and ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth place (54 hours and 6 minutes), just behind one of the living legends of ultradistance running and of this race, Italian Luca Papi.
For the 2025 edition, José Bordón has spent recent months competing in several key races on the calendar. He began the year running distances under 50 kilometers, such as the 30K at the CronoTrail Almendro en Flor and the 23K Half of The North Face Transgrancanaria. As the months went by, he increased his mileage, racing in April at the Ultra Reventón Trail El Paso, where he secured a top-10 finish. More recently, he placed 15th in the 100K Ultra Trail Serra da Freita (Portugal).
