The ultra-distance, self-sufficiency race returns to its heart in Tejeda, hosting both the start and finish lines

The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria, one of the most demanding endurance events on the international circuit, has officially confirmed its dates for 2026. Following a spectacular edition that saw local hero José Bordón and Switzerland’s Anita Lehmann crowned champions, the race will return from the 4th to the 8th of November 2026.

Now entering its eleventh edition, this self-sufficiency challenge is set to draw elite endurance runners from across the globe. Competitors will face over 200 kilometres of unmarked technical terrain, navigating through the most remote and breathtaking landscapes of the island. For the fifth consecutive year, the picturesque village of Tejeda will serve as the event’s epicentre, hosting both the start and the finish.

The 10th anniversary edition, held this past November, was defined by the dominance of local athletes. José Bordón made history as the first Canarian runner to claim victory, securing his place in the hall of fame after a masterful performance in the final stages.

The local runner overtook Britain’s Dave Phillips, France’s Sébastien Raichon, and fellow Canarian Álvaro Santana with less than 30 kilometres to go, relying on superior navigation skills. Local talent shone throughout the field, with Javier Blanco, Jonathan Florido, and José Luis Velázquez all securing top-ten finishes.

In the women’s category, Switzerland’s Anita Lehmann clinched her first title after three previous attempts. Lehmann’s victory was built on a consistent pace and flawless navigation during the second half of the race. The Canarian contingent also impressed, with debutants Nira Castro and Guacimara Suárez completing the podium in second and third place, respectively, a remarkable feat for their first self-sufficiency race.

The 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria is organised by Arista Eventos. The event is proudly sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Instituto Insular de Deportes), the Government of the Canary Islands (via Promotur – Islas Canarias), the Ayuntamiento de Tejeda, Joma, and Fred. Olsen Express. The race is also supported by Aguas de Teror, Pepsi, Lorenzo González Automoción, Emicela, Gofio La Piña, Bonflex, Provital, and Inetel.
